Girl Scout Cake - Investiture Celebration
Of course my daughter chose the Food Committee. And committed us to making a big, giant cake. :-)
But since we didn't have a big, giant baking pan for a big giant cake, we decided to make a fun layer cake instead.
I printed off a big copy of the Girl Scouts Logo - then created a stencil out of it by cutting out the negative image. Once the cake was frosted, we placed the stencil on top and sprinkled on the green sprinkles. I used black piped frosting to outline the image.
Most importantly, we had a blast making the cake and our troop loved it! ~jlr
Nature Scavenger Hunt
A few weeks ago I invited our troop to participate in a Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt through one of our gorgeous local large parks. It was a beautiful day and we had such a great time!
We used these Scavenger Hunt cards that I put together. I laminated them and had bought a few packs of dry-erase pens at The Dollar Store to mark them in a re-usable fashion.
Each girl was given a Scavenger Hunt card, a dry erase pen, and a brown paper bag to collect their items.
We grouped 3 Girl Scouts and their parents together to find all the items on the list. We wandered for about an hour or so (taking LOTS of picture breaks to take in the beautiful surroundings) and then headed back to the playground near the parking lot.
Then we had the Girls take some of their Scavenger Hunt findings and use them to embellish a small art canvas along with pens, glue, sequins, stickers, etc. What wasn't used was "left behind for others to find."
It was a super fun, low (to no-cost), healthy way to get out and spend time with our Troop. I can't wait to do it again in the Spring!
Daisy and Brownie Investiture Certificates
As another year of Girl Scouts begins, we're looking forward to our Investiture Ceremony coming up this week.
I had a chance to make the certificates for both our Daisies and our newly added Brownies group. In the spirit of being a helpful Girl Scout, I've put the hi-resolution .jpg files here for you to grab and use as your leisure.
